Find the Right Location for Your Business in East Gwillimbury
There are 232 net developable hectares (573 net developable acres) of Employment Lands in East Gwillimbury. The Town Council has adopted the philosophy of managed growth of these areas, a key objective of which is the promotion of economic development. 

In addition, the Town has developed a Vacant Employment Lands Inventory which features the Town’s employment areas: Green Lane, Highway 404, Holland-Landing, Bales Drive and Mount Albert. This document highlights vacant properties and the associated services available within each of the employment areas. In total, there are over 1200 acres of Employment Lands available for development in East Gwillimbury.

You can also search for available sites and buildings using our GIS mapping tool, an interactive map that combines a Google Map-like interface with municipal data including: address search, recent aerial imagery, directions, and parcel fabric (for example, Transit or Community Resources).

The development of these Employment Lands is a priority of Council. Members of the Town staff are available to assist with the permits, licensing and the development process. The Business First Program provides dedicated staff support and attention to assist business owner or investor to secure necessary approvals to add some degree of certainty to timing and project completion.

Green Lane Employment Area

The Green Lane Employment Area provides immediate access to Highway 404 for companies that rely on the timely movement of goods and services. In addition, businesses adjacent to the highway have good visibility. This location is an attractive area for employees, given the excellent transportation access and presence of East Gwillimbury GO Station (pictured below).

Highway 404 Employment Area

The Highway 404 Employment Area has several vacant properties available for development. These properties are either directly fronting or located in close proximity to the Town’s brand new Highway 404 extension and interchanges, which opened in fall 2014.

Bales Drive Employment Area

A large number of industrial businesses operate in this industrial area, such as Technicore and Geo.A.Kelson. York Region is another large landowner in the Bales Drives Employment Area as they operate a household hazardous waste centre, transportation and works centre, and police fleet centre.

Holland Landing Employment Area (North and South)

Employment areas south of Holland Landing Road to Highway 11 are designated in the Official Plan as Prestige Employment and employment areas north of Holland Landing Road are designated General Employment.

Queensville Employment Area

The designation of the Queensville University lands provides a unique opportunity for the Town of East Gwillimbury.  Residents in the town and region would be provided an opportunity to live and pursue post-secondary studies in proximity to where they live instead of travelling to larger urban centres in the Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton or Waterloo.

Mount Albert Employment Area

These employment lands are located adjacent to Highway 48 in the west end of Mount Albert. These Employment Lands allow for a broad range of industrial uses and are designated General Employment.
