Arts and culture

A vibrant arts and culture scene is the heart of EG’s Complete Community vision. As EG continues to grow, community leaders are working to create an attractive, welcoming community that celebrates our small-town roots while offering vibrant public spaces that celebrate community, public art and the highest quality urban design.

East Gwillimbury Public Library

The East Gwillimbury Public Library has locations in Holland Landing and Mount Albert, where community members can access an extensive collection of print, audio and video material. The Library also offers a wide variety of programming, outreach services, home-bound delivery and innovative lending opportunities.

Take a trip down memory lane

The Sharon Temple National Historic Site and Museum and Sharon Burying Ground are popular sites for visitors and newcomers to explore EG's story and learn about the area's past.

Established in 1832, the Sharon Temple, or the temple of the 'Children at Peace at Sharon', was designed by David Wilson, a religious leader from the early 1800s in Upper Canada. The Sharon Temple is a popular venue for public tours, weddings and social events.

Picturesque scenery and outdoor adventure

With dozens of parks and winding scenic hiking/cycling trails, mixed with acres of incredible, picturesque landscapes and greenery that is part of the Oak Ridges Moraine protected area, there is no better place to head outdoors and breathe in the fresh air.

In EG, you'll find spacious environments, dense forests, rolling countryside, incredible views and lookouts, winding rivers, marshes and fertile agricultural lands that stretch for miles. Our green space-dominated geography delights golfers, mountain bikers and snowmobile enthusiasts, not to mention the many water sports offered on the lake, such as wakeboarding, boating and fishing. Equestrian is another popular activity, with safe, inclusive horseback riding offered at multiple academies.

Community facilities, parks and sports fields

Enjoy access to a wide range of East Gwillimbury sports complexes, community centres and other facilities for four-season recreation and social activities.

You can also enjoy many outdoor recreational activities and sports, including the Town's four refreshing splash pads, a variety of sports fields and courts, used for baseball, softball, tennis, basketball, soccer and more.

Shopping and dining

Our urban areas provide a bustling, active community scene, where visitors, neighbours and friends gather to socialize and browse our many specialty shops, restaurants and cafes.
